Oh my! Oh my!

Ok we new it. Democracy fails when people don't want to become dictators (read il principe if that sounds funny to you) but that it has gone that far wasn't something I would have believed. Now 16 years after the collapse of the German Democratic Republic (aka as Peoples Republic aka East Germany) and the crimes the secret services commit there, it looks possible with the omnipresent war on terror justified by 9/11 and terror attacks on London to pass stupid bills and special powers.

Obviously the powers of the Staatssicherheit (StaSi) or at least many of their powers would fit into this scheme, as they would be extremely handy to combat terrorism, and if you are not one of this evil terrorist (or problem making green fundamentalist or ....) you do not need to fear because it's not those evil commies that poses these powers but the nice lovely police forces and Bundesnachrichten Dienst (BND German equivalent to CIA) and Verfassungsschutz (German equivalent to NSA).

Remember that this is those folks that sometimes don't use the tools right they already have (see that poor little girl that got raped and the police didn't found the rapist because they used the wrong keyword in their database query, this is so not funny but must be mentioned) and in general they wont abuse their powers, neither will the federal secret service.

You all remember Darth Sidious kids? Do you want to be Jar Jar Binks?

Well if you live in the U.S. you are already there. In Europe we were lucky to not have passed to many bills to drift away from a free democratic and just state at least so I thought. But they want your civil liberties. They want them badly. And it looks as if they will succeed.... People do not seem to care.

All talk in the mayor media seems to go to the Health Care Reform while they add mighty powers to the BND, and BKA (German equivalent to FBI) etc...

Innenminister Ingo Wolf wants access to your computers (to combat terrorism and he can since 1994 ) says:

this bit is funny but sad:
